IN
THE PAST THREE WEEKS that I have spent at Shan Yee Poon Ballet School, I have
learned many things. One of the most important things that I learned
is that a teacher can do more than just show you new steps and correct you.
A teacher can be a guide, role model, and friend.
"Teacher: one whose occupation is to instruct."
I received so many wonderful instructions and corrections in class from Ms.
Poon, they will help me to become a better dancer.
"Guardian: one who watches over another." Ms. Poon
has watched over me these few weeks and made sure that I was comfortable with
my surroundings and got to meet the other girls. It was great because then I
wasn't so shy to talk to them and we became friends.
"Role Model: a person who sets a good example for others;
one who others look up to." Ms. Poon has inspired me to dance with more
confidence and joy. I would like to be able to dance as beautifully as she does.
"Guide: one who leads or directs another on their way."
Ms. Poon has helped me improve my technique and artistry. I will always cherish
the guidance she has given me.
"Friend: one not hostile; one who is there for another." Ms. Poon
has been a good friend to me. She has always been there when I was frustrated,
and she has encouraged me not to give up and to dance joyfully. For that, I
thank her greatly.
