Shan-Yee Poon

Artistic Director, Shan-Yee Poon trained at the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London, where she spent six years of intensive study. Ms. Poon graduated one year in advance and was immediately accepted as a principal dancer at the State Theater in Gelsenkirchen, West Germany. While at State Theater, Ms. Poon performed for four years in repertoire ranging from classical to post-modern. Since moving to the Bay Area in 1984, Ms. Poon appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Opera Ballet, The Peninsula Ballet, the Ruth Langridge Dance Company and Theater Ballet of San Francisco. As Vice-President of Pear Garden in the West, a Chinese-American Performing Arts Organization, she choreographed and danced the leading role in the famous Chinese folk tale Monkey and the Spider Spirits. She has also staged many delightful children’s ballet productions.

Monique Brown

Monique Brown began dancing at age three and by age eight she was accepted into the professional training program at San Francisco Ballet School. At SFBS she trained extensively and danced in their company productions. She went on to dance with many companies including Theater Ballet, Berkeley Ballet, Malcolm McFarland and the Dancers Synectics Group. Mrs. Brown has also danced numerous principal roles in ballets such as Swan Lake and Coppelia.

Stephanie Craig

Ms. Stephanie Craig's teaching repertoire includes jazz, tap, hip-hop, jazz funk, creative movement for children, composition, break dance, contemporary jazz, lyrical and ballet. Miss Craig received her BA in Dance from UCLA and holds an MA in Dance Education from New York University. She studied tap under Lynn Daly of Jazz Tap Ensemble and hip-hop under the living legend, Rennie Harris. Her training brought her to Broadway Dance Center and the famous Millennium Dance Center, where she studied with renowned hip-hop choreographers and such distinguished contemporary dance choreographers as Wade Robson, Dee Caspary and Jayson Wright. Ms. Craig performed with Elliott Dance Company, a hip-hop dance company In New York City directed by NYU faculty member, Kim Elliott. Her choreography - a contemporary jazz piece - was selected to represent NYU at the American College Dance Festival’s New England Conference

 

Jenya Lum

Jenya Lum studied with City Ballet School under the direction of Damara Bennett. At age 16 she was offered a full tuition scholarship to the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre, where she went on to dance in professional roles with Oregon Ballet Theatre. Her performance experience includes works by George Balanchine, August Bournonville, and Lew Christensen, including soloist roles. In addition to ballet she has been trained in jazz, hip hop, modern, flamenco, character dance, and yoga.


Jillian Talbot

Ms. Talbot began dance training at age five and studied at Roseville School of Dance, Conservatory of Performing Arts in Rocklin, California and performed in the company dance group. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz and theater dance. She danced for many years in New York City at Broadway Academy and Steps on Broadway. She is a graduate of the world-renowned conservatory and college American Musical and Dramatic Academy, College of the Performing Arts in New York City. She received her BFA in Musical Theater from the prestigious arts school, New School University in New York City.

Ms. Talbot has a strong performance background and has danced professionally in numerous high-profile shows and events throughout the country. In addition to teaching children and adults of all ages, she also taught at Southern Nevada’s top ballet school Nevada Ballet Theater, specializing in ages three to six.
